Lessons from Psalms

One of my favorite movies is “Facing the Giants” where the coach asks one of his players how the aroma of his heart was. Today I heard that question in my head as I saw myself in the Blink camera. We are supposed to be witnesses for Jesus and draw people to Christ. Why would anyone want what I have if I looked so sour all the time. Could I be being hard on myself? Yes, however, it is a good question to ask yourself. What attitude are you presenting to others about God without realizing it?

I came inside and read my devotional for today. God spoke volumes!!

When God repeats himself you need to pay attention! In Psalm 50 he says twice to offer thanksgiving as a sacrifice. Something so easy but yet hard at times. Our hearts are troubled and we know God is in control yet we struggle to understand what is going on. How can we offer prayers of Thanksgiving?

Yet again Phillipians 4 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

So as the week starts I am going to challenge myself to find things several times a day to praise God for and do as Psalm 50 states: Offer Thanksgiving as a sacrifice!
