Peace in Daily Struggles

“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

Psalm 94:19 ESV

Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Most of us have, some of us daily! This verse hit me last night when I read it and has been weighing heavy on my heart! We can not allow the struggles of daily life to cause us to forget the blessings that God has given us!

God has carried my family through so much over the past six years. The cares of my heart were so heavy that I didn’t feel like I could take another step! I was devastated and heartbroken. However, each time, He stepped up and carried me through. His Hope was my consolation! I knew I wasn’t alone! He provided Hope through sermons, prayer, songs, and His word!

John 16:33 became my life verse:

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Let’s return to my question, “How many of us get overwhelmed?” Why do we take longer to seek God in these times? My answer is there is a difference between the overwhelming feeling of life’s daily problems piling up and the stopping you in your track of life-shattering events! However, there isn’t a difference to God. He is the same God in both situations! He wants us to turn to him for everything! We are not to do this life alone! The problems we face every day are just as significant to Him as the life-altering ones!

Matthew 11:28-30 is proof of that:

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.””

So, friend, next time we become overwhelmed with the daily struggles of life, let us stop and sit at our Father’s feet, hand Him our heavy hearts, and allow His presence to bring us Joy! He will give you the strength to move forward!
