“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
Love is a phrase that gets used so often that sometimes, we forget the word’s true meaning. It becomes a salutation as we leave someone. We truly mean the words, but how often do we stop and show our love for one another in this busy world? Words are great, but actions speak louder.
God not only said it, but he proved His love!
I am a media specialist at a local school, and this past December, I was reading a book to my students called Christmas Trolls by Jan Brett, and I was reminded of God’s love for us.
In the story, the trolls wanted Christmas but were stealing things to get it. This little girl found them and was trying to help them understand Christmas. She gave them her most prized possession to help them understand the meaning of Christmas.
I couldn’t help but think about God’s love for us. He gave us His Son that Christmas night over 2000 thousand years ago so that we would understand His love for us. He gave us Jesus to provide us with the Hope and Peace we needed to overcome this world.
We must never gloss over the Cross and what it means! Jesus provided the ultimate sacrifice for us to have a relationship with God! He is our Hope, Refuge, and Savior!
At the end of the book, the trolls make a wooden horse to replace the one the girl gave them. We can give Jesus our lives to show Him gratitude for what He did. That is all He asks of us. He wants us to come to Him Just As We Are.

With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fighting and fears within without
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come.’
He knows your heart. He understands your pain and questions. Take that step towards or back towards the One who loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will have Everlasting Life.
This month, as we celebrate Love, no matter your relationship status, remember God Loves You!
